History Channel US to showcase 'Hollywood's Greatest Villains'

MUMBAI: From sci-fi villains like Darth Vader,
to super-villains like Goldfinger, to psychopaths like Hannibal Lechter, negative characters have fascinated movie goers over the decades.

The History Channel US will air the special Hollywood's Greatest Villains tomorrow 1 December 2005.

The special looks at some of the most evil - and best-loved - characters ever created on film and how and where they fit into history. It explores the nexus between reality and fiction, revealing the historical personalities, politics and trends that inspired their wickedness.

Interviews with Sharon Stone, Scott Glenn, Martin Landau, Glenn Close and John Carpenter will be aired as part of the special.

Viewers can see how the conservative backlash of the 1980's laid the groundwork for the vengeful lady villain in Fatal Attraction. One can see the vampire villain evolve from the sexy gigolo of 1931's Dracula to the yuppie bloodsucker of 1998's Blade. Get a glimpse into the real-life serial killer who inspired Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
