HBO goes big on Saturdays in 2005

MUMBAI: HBO which earlier this year won the award for Best English Movie Channel at the Indian Telly Awards rings in the New Year with a new franchise The Big Satirday.

In this slot blockbusters that have earned at least $ 50 million at the box office will air. On 8 January at 9 pm viewers can catch the actioner from director Andrew Davis, Collateral Damage starring Arnold Schwarzengger, John Leguizemo and John Turturro. The film traces the life of a lone firefighter who travels to South America to seek revenge on the terrorists responsible for killing his family.

The Big Saturday block continues HBOs The Big One theme where a film that has made at least $100 million airs. In fact Star Movies recently copied the formula with The Big Two. One of HBO's Big Ones for next year is Hulk starring Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly and Sam Elliott.

Bruce Banner (Eric Bana) is a geneticist and an experimental accident curses him with the tendency to become a powerful giant green brute under emotional stress. Bruce must now face his father, who can transform himself into anything he touches and save the world from his evil power.

As far as original programming is concerned HBO will kick off the third season of Sex And The City. The new season premieres with two back to back episodes on 14 January after the 9 pm movie. Thereafter the show will air every Wednesday after the 9 pm movie.
