MUMBAI:The Discovery Health Channel has announced a partnership with the American Diabetes Association (ADA), to develop special programming in order to increase awareness of the disease.

Through a co-branding and media awareness effort designed to support the ADA's mission, the Discovery Health Channel is joining forces with the ADA to also support fundraising efforts in search of a cure. An estimated 17 million people in the US have diabetes, but nearly six million of them are unaware of it, says an official release.

As part of this joint venture, Discovery Health Channel will take a compelling look at diabetes with a special night of programming to coincide with Diabetes Awareness Month in November this year. The three-hour multi-programme event will take viewers to the frontlines of the fight against this incurable condition and provide access to experts on the cutting-edge of new research and treatments. 'The Faces of Diabetes' examines the many people affected by the disease as well as research that points to new information that could lead to a potential cure.

In addition to programming, other key components of the partnership include Discovery Health's promotion of the ADA's nationwide fundraiser "America's Walk for Diabetes," special educational PSAs that will air on the Discovery Health Channel throughout the month of November. Also, diabetes related content can be found on discoveryhealth.com.

The American Diabetes Association claims to be America's leading voluntary health organization supporting diabetes research, information and advocacy. Discovery Health Channel deals with the world of health, medicine and wellness through medical breakthroughs, real life stories of individual and medical triumphs and events.
