MUMBAI: Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is designing a new generation satellite with unfurlable antenna for mobile television services.

"Satellite design is going on. It requires a huge antenna to be deployed in space and also high power. So, it's in the process," media reports quote Isro chairman G Madhavan Nair as saying. He said it would take two years before the satellite gets ready for launch.

Isro director, Bangalore Satellite Centre, Dr K N Shankara said that the proposed satellite would be a 'multimedia' one. He added that the developing of unfurlable antenna needed new technology which Isro was developing.

The Isro officials were speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an international conference on electromagnetic interference and compatibility in Bangalore.
