MUMBAI: Eutelsat has successfully launched Hispasat's Amazona satellite, which marks the company's ongoing expansion in America and Iberian Peninsula.

Eutelsat, a satellite operator and the largest shareholder in Hispasat, is based in Paris and provides coverage from North and South America to Far East Asia and is one of the world's three leading satellite operators, says the release.

The satellite is equipped with 51 transponders and coverage's suited for transatlantic connectivity and pan- American communications. Amazona brings new capacity to Hispasat's fleet, notably for broadcasting, including high-definition television, and interactive broadband services. The satellite sits at the forefront of technology optimised for audiovisual applications in the Americas and the Iberian Peninsula and is the most powerful and flexible satellite in Hispasat's fleet.
