X-Men: First Class grosses Rs 102 mn in opening weekend

MUMBAI: Fox Star Studios‘ latest film in the X-men saga, X-Men: First Class, has grossed Rs 102 million in its opening weekend.

The James McAvoy - Michael Fassbender starrer has received the biggest opening for a non 3D Hollywood movie in 2011, according to Fox Star Studios.

The film is released with dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

"Registering the second biggest opening of the year for a Hollywood film in India, X-Men: First Class has also raced far ahead of all the other films that released this year including Fast and the Furious Five," Fox Star Studios said.

Touted as one of the most entertaining films of the franchise, X-Men: First Class has surpassed weekend collections of the franchise‘s previous films in India, including the 2009 super hit X-Men Origins: Wolverine that starred Hugh Jackman.

The storyline of the movie revolves around the friendship between Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X and Erik Lensherr a.k.a. Magneto before it evolves into an eternal war between Magneto‘s Brotherhood and Professor X‘s X-men.
