Sanjay Leela Bhansali to remake Ramana

MUMBAI: Encouraged by the good business of Rowdy Rathore, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has set his eyes on the remake of another southern hit Ramana to be directed by AR Murugadoss.

Incidentally, the 2002 Tamil blockbuster has a strong anti-corruption message and the filmmaker hopes the film would still be relevant thanks to Anna Hazare‘s anti-corruption movement.

Rowdy Rathore was the remake of Telugu film Vikramarkurdu.

Ramana, which featured Vijaykanth in the lead and directed by Murugadoss (Ghajini fame), was an all-time hit. It was later remade in Telugu as Tagore with Chiranjeevi in the lead and then in Kannada as Vishnu Sena.

However, it will take a while before Bhansali can start the work on Raman as he is pre-occupied with the Ranveer Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer Ram Leela. He will then jump onto Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi.
