Mithun Chakraborty to star in Malayalam film

MUMBAI: In his bid to become a multilingual actor, Mithun Chakraborty has decided to do films down South. After Hindi and Bengali, the star is all set to act in a Malayalam film.

In this connection, director Jayaraj recently approached him with a project written keeping the actor in mind.

Said Chakraborty,"This place is full of talent. I feel honoured to be associated with Mollywood. Mohanlal is a good friend of mine. You have a lot of good actors in the industry - Mohanlal, Mammootty, Suresh Gopi and many of them."

Chakraborty took a sabbatical from films after he found that same kind of roles were being offered to him. "I‘ve been part of it all, from being associated with the Naxal movement in my youth to moving on to filmdom and seeing super-duper success and flops before I took a break and went into farming in the South," Chakraborty averred.

His comeback to films happened in 2007 when he played a newspaper baron in Mani Ratnam‘s Guru, after which he has been part of many commercial and critically acclaimed films in Hindi and Bengali.
