Asha Bhosale pays tribute to her mother as she unveils her lone acting venture

NEW DELHI: "My mother did not leave any leaf unturned in our upbringing. She made us stand on our feet even when we were going through a real bad financial crisis‘ said versatile singer Asha Bhosale as she unveiled the first trailer of her film ‘Mai‘ inspired by her mother‘s life.

The singer who has rendered the largest number of songs in different languages in the country said this was her first and last film as actress.

Those present at the screening of the trailer in the premises of Parliament House included Supreme Court Judges Ms Ranjana Desai and Ms Gyan Sudha Mishra, Women Empowerment Minister Krishna Tirath, Ms Nalini Chidambaram, Ms Kiran Walia, Ms Savitri Jindal, and Ms Vandana Luthra among others.

Bhosale and Ms Savitri Jindal, mother of Member of Parliament and steel magnate Naveen Jindal, were honoured as Woman Achievers.

The Film ‘Mai‘ is produced by Subhash Dawar and Nitin Shankar. It is being presented by Chandra Kumar Jajodia and Vishveshvara Ventures (Mahaveer S Jain and Vijayta V Gandhi). It has been directed by Mahesh Kodiyal and will be released worldwide on 1 February 2013.
