Adaminte Makan Abu is our official entry at the Oscars

MUMBAI: The Film Federation of India has selected Malayalam film Adaminte Makan Abu as the official entry for Oscars this year in the Foreign Language category.

Adaminte Makan Abu tells the story of a poor perfume (attar) seller Abu whose only wish in life is to perform a Haj pilgrimage, which he strives hard to fulfil. But at the verge of the fulfillment, he opts out when he fears that the means is not fully legitimate.
 
The film won four major national awards at the 58th National Film Awards, 2010 awards for best Film, best actor (Kumar), best cinematography and best background score. Similarly at the Kerala State Film Awards, the film won the awards for best film, best actor, best screenplay and best background score.

The film, directed by Salim Ahmed under the banner of Alan Media, stars Salim Kumar and Zarina Wahab.

It will be screened at the 55th BFI London Film festival in October.
