MUMBAI: UEFA has announced that an agreement has been reached with Sharp Corporation to support the UEFA Champions League from season 2003/04 through to 2005/06..

Sharp develops innovative products and core technologies. It claims to be a leader in liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and digital technologies. An official release informs that Sharp’s supplier package grants them exposure in the form of perimeter signage at all UEFA Champions League matches. They can also use the UEFA Champions League logo in advertising and promotion of their audio-visual equipment, home appliances and mobile phones.

It is the first time Sharp has been directly involved in a UEFA competition. The company is aiming to to increasing awareness of the brand across Europe. The 2003/04 UEFA Champions League season kicks off on 16 September 2003 with the first match day of the group stage
