Official Indian travel agent sells 1500 packages for World Cup

MUMBAI: Sachinam Travels, the official travel agent in India for the ICC World Cup 2003, has sold a total of 1500 full packages. Speaking to indiantelevision.com, Sachinam Travels MD Mukesh Dand claimed that the response would have been better if the Indian team had performed well in New Zealand.
 

 
Sachinam Travels are the official travel agent (OTA) in India, for promotion of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003. Sachinam was appointed by Edusport Gullinget Travel (Pty), the sole international tour operator which has in turn been appointed by The United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA).

Sales for the last ICC Cricket World Cup 1999 which was held in England were also handled by the agency wherein it had sold more than 1000 packages. Sachinam obtained the rights by giving a minimum guarantee of 500 packages.

Sachinam's Dand adds: "We launched a multimedia campaign for the entire exercise with emphasis on direct marketing, promotions and advertisement campaigns in print and on radio. We even tied up with Radio Mirchi for contests. Although we started our efforts in March 2002, the sales peaked in January end-February 2003."

Sachinam has four IATA offices in Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad. It also has a total staff strength of 50 employees in Mumbai and 80 employees on an all India basis.
