India shines at Cannes; 18 ads shorlisted in four categories

MUMBAI: The Lions have started roaring in Cannes, France and the first shortlist for four categories at 52nd International Advertising Festival has been announced. From India, 18 ads from various agencies have made it so far.
 

 
In the Media Lions category, Mediacom India was shortlisted in the Best Use of Outdoor for its ad for Emirates Airlines India New York Flight Route (Yellow Cabs). In the Lions Direct category, JWT has been shortlisted in the Business to Business - Advertising & Media category for the Ideator ad. The winners of the Media Lions and Lions Direct will be announced tomorrow.
 
 

Saatchi & Saatchi's ad for Chateau Indage Wines
In the Press category, Saatchi & Saatchi India featured for the Alcoholic Drinks segment for its ad for Chateau Indage Wines titled Balance.

Ambience Publicis' ad for Godrej Sara Lee Hit Insecticides
In the Toiletries and OTC Pharmacy segment, Ambience Publicis India was shortlisted for the Cross Godrej Sara Lee Hit Insecticides ad.

JWT India has been shortlisted yet again, for three of its ads in the travel, transport and tourism segment for GRT Temple Bay. The three ads are titled Bliss, Sinful and Unlimited.

 
 
In the press segment for the Banking, Investment & Insurance sector, McCann Erickson India's two ads for Western Union Money Transfer titled Dollar and Pound have been shortlisted. On the other hand, 1pointsize has also made its presence felt among the Lions. Its ad titled Just Do It for Sharad Haksar's Photographic Services was shortlisted in the press segment for the Advertising & Media sector.

JWT India was again shortlisted in the press category for Fundraising & Appeals segment for its ad on The Indian Red Cross Society titled Give.

In the Outdoor segment, Leo Burnett India's two ads for Heinz Ketchup were shortlisted in the Savoury Foods segment.

In the Household category for the Outdoor segment, Leo Burnett was again shortlisted for P&G's Tide Detergents. On the other hand, in the Restaurants & Fast Food Outlets segment, the agency was shortlisted for Mcdonald's ad for Home Delivery. In the Entertainment & Leisure category, Ogilvy & Mather India was shortlisted for A:Door's Art Centre ad titled Birds.

IBM India's outdoor ad for personal laptop computers by O&M India titled Backwards was also shortlisted in the Business Equipment & Services segment.

While in the Ambient category, Contract Advertising India's ad in Fame Adlabs loo for the Spiderman Film Screening was shortlisted.

The winners for the Press and Outdoor category will be announced on 23 June.

Next to look out for will be the Film, Radio Lions, Titanium, Young Creatives and the Special Awards categories, which will be announced shortly. The Cannes ad fest has been on from 19 June and will end on 25 June.
