MUMBAI: The most prestigious tennis event Wimbledon kicks off on ESPN Star Sports (ESS) next month. The broadcaster has announced that Cathay Pacific is the sponsor.
 

 
The airline will enjoy regional association with Wimbledon this year on Star Sports through a combination of on-air and online benefits. This includes on-air entitlements on all ‘live’ matches on Star Sports Asia and sponsorship of the Cathay Pacific Champions of Wimbledon Competition.

Till 20 June, promos will run on Star Sports inviting tennis fans to participate in an online competition on www.espnstar.com.
Two contestants will each win a trip to Wimbledon to catch the Men’s and Women’s finals respectively on 3 and 4 July 2004.

Cathay Pacific’s sponsorship also extends to Wimbledon Update on SportsCenter Asia and SportsCenter Taiwan. The ‘Wimbledon Newsletter’ will also be made available to tennis fans on espnstar.com, espnstar.com.cn and espnstar.com.tw.

As reported earlier by Indiantelevision.com a few weeks ago ESS had renewed its agreement for Wimbledon to 2008. As in previous years ESS will support its live match coverage with a package that includes daily highlights, analysis as well as profiles of the top competitors and Asian contestants.
