• ESS launches Fox Football Channel in Malaysia on HyppTV

    MUMBAI: ESPN Star Sports has launched its first ever round the clock football television channel Fox Football Channel in Malaysia, featuring more than 500 league matches from a comprehensive mix of top football leagues around the globe.

    Fox Football Channel makes its debut in Malaysia through Telekom Malaysia‘s first IPTV service HyppTV Channel 173, which is available exclusively on UniFi, giving football fans a comprehensive mix of live matches, highlights and magazine shows and football news updates around the games.

    ESPN Star Sports MD Peter Hutton said, "We‘re very happy to be part of the first ever sports pack on HyppTV and are delighted to launch our first Fox branded sports channel in Asia. Round the clock football content from the top international leagues is a great way to begin and we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with HyppTV."

    The channel will feature live Spanish La Liga BBVA matches, weekly coverage of top games from Argentina‘s Primera Divisi?n, the Eredivisie Dutch League and the Russian Premier Liga, as well as matches featuring Manchester City and Chelsea.

    In addition, the channel will also feature weekly highlight shows, as well as in-depth and comprehensive coverage from official club channels Manchester City TV and Chelsea TV. Fans can also stay up-to-date with ‘Fox Football Updates‘ aired during the day with the latest football news and highlights from all over the world.

    MUMBAI: Al Jazeera?s sports channels, beIN Sports USA 1 and 2, is set to hit American TV homes beginning 1 August, said beIN Sports USA MD Youssef Mohammad Al-Obaidly.

    beIN Sports will offer exclusive coverage of La Liga BBVA from Spain, Serie A from Italy and Ligue 1 from France.

    Backed by the resources of Qatar Media Corporation and the global expertise of Mediapro, beIN Sports aims to provide unmatched experience to soccer fanatics in the USA.

    ?We are very proud to bring to the American community a new way of watching sports, a better way, where all platforms come together to provide a truly customized and totally unprecedented depth of interactive experience to the viewer," Al-Obaidly said.

    The channel is being developed in partnership with Imagina US and has already secured two major deals with service providers.

    Veteran American English-language soccer commentator Phil Schoen has joined beIN Sports USA. Schoen is expected to continue as the English-language voice of La Liga in the USA, when beIN Sports USA launches.

  • ESS adds La Liga rights for Singapore to its roster

    MUMBAI: ESPN Star Sports, the JV between Walt Disney‘s ESPN and News Corp‘s Star Sports, has snapped up La Liga exclusive broadcast rights for the Singapore market for 2012/13 and 2014/15 seasons.

    ESS will provide coverage across all platforms through its broadcast channels and popular online offering ESPN Player, and the well-established mobile brand Mobile ESPN. The deal also includes the option to showcase select games from La Liga in 3-D.

    Fans in Singapore can look forward to catching some of the best players in the world with improved kick-off time to suit local audiences when ESS begins its coverage of La Liga, showcasing up to 250 live games across its channels, with matches being scheduled earlier during prime time hours between 6 pm and 12 midnight.

    The Spanish La Liga deal bolsters ESPN Ssta Sports? current stellar list of premier sports events which includes the Formula 1, Wimbledon, Australian Open, Golf Majors such as The US Open, The Masters and The Open, Moto GP, and major tournaments from the Asian Football Confederation and the most iconic event of the year London 2012 Olympic Games.

    Earlier, ESS had secured live and exclusive rights to broadcast the Spanish La Liga on multiple distribution platforms in 18 countries including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Papua New Guinea, the Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan and North Korea; as well as China & South Korea in English only.
