MUMBAI: Taking the theme of Think Blue. Drive Blue. campaign to the next level Volkswagen, Europe?s leading car manufacturer and BBC Topgear magazine encourages visitors at the Auto Expo in New Delhi to support a greener environment by distributing seeds.

This initiative has been launched today in association with BBC Top Gear Magazine.

Seeds will be handed over to visitors along with contests on various social media platforms specifically designed to highlight and promote a greener environment.

Mr. Lutz Kothe, Head - Marketing & PR, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, ?Our initiatives under the Think Blue. Campaign is to persistently put a conscious effort towards a cleaner and a more sustainable environment not only for ourselves but our future generations as well. Our campaign today is just a small step towards this effort?

Volkswagen launched the Think Blue. campaign in India last year coinciding with the introduction of its first carline with BlueMotion Technologies - the Passat and will continue to highlight its efficient technologies in the coming years as well.

Additionally, Volkswagen has also initiated a cleaning up activity throughout the seven days of the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 similar to the earlier cleaning up initiative in Mumbai.

Mr. Girish Karkera, Editor, BBC TopGear Magazine elaborates: ?At TopGear we are always looking for fun cars but we are also aware the kind of responsibility today‘s manufacturers have in producing eco-friendly cars. In Volkswagen we‘ve found an ideal partner who knows how to mix both these ingredients. Plant-In-A-Magazine is a symbolic initiative to get involved in making a difference to our world first by planting these saplings and then innovatively monitoring its progress while doing things that will show the world how an individual can make a difference even if it‘s a small one.?

Mr. Tarun Rai, Chief Executive Officer, Worldwide Media concluded by saying, ?The ?Plant-in-a-Magazine? is an excellent innovation to support Volkswagen campaign of Think Blue. Drive Blue. Volkswagen was looking for innovative and impactful ideas to communicate their initiative and we, at BBC Top Gear, were happy to partner them. Both Volkswagen and Top Gear are leaders in their respective fields and we hope we will be partners in many such initiatives through the year.?
