Priyanka Iyer returns to NDTV, this time as group head of ad sales
A decade of chasing agency budgets across Zee, ABP and NDTV itself brings the sales veteran back home in a senior role
MUMBAI: Some careers loop back on themselves, and Priyanka Iyer’s is a neat example. Having cut her teeth as an assistant manager at NDTV between 2018 and 2021, she has now returned to the broadcaster as group head, ad sales, a decisive step up that puts her in charge of the revenue engine she once helped run from further down the ladder.
The intervening years did the heavy lifting. Iyer spent over three years at Zee Entertainment Enterprises as senior sales manager, ad sales, sharpening a client book and agency relationships across Mumbai’s crowded media landscape, before a brief stint at ABP Network. Go back further and the pattern holds: Suvarna News, B4U Television and The New Indian Express all gave her time in front of agencies such as Mediacom, Mindshare, Madison, Lintas, Zenith Optimedia and Vivaki Exchange, the kind of client list that builds a sales career one release order at a time. Across 13 years, she has generated revenue, designed marketing plans and managed key accounts across verticals and regions, competencies that read less like a job description and more like a habit.
What NDTV gets is someone who already knows the building, the culture and, crucially, the agencies on the other side of the table, only now with a decade of additional scar tissue in closing deals under pressure. In a sales environment where relationships often outlast job titles, that combination of institutional memory and market-wide agency contacts is not easily bought. Iyer’s return looks less like a lateral move and more like a broadcaster betting on someone who has already proven she can deliver, both for NDTV and against it.
