NEW DELHI: Paperwork is getting another prime-time deadline. The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) has asked 90 private cable and satellite (C&S) television channels to submit pending documents by October 21, 2026, as part of its fresh empanelment process.

In an advisory dated October 1, the CBC said the fresh empanelment of the 90 channels listed in Appendix A of the notice remains pending because the broadcasters have not submitted the requisite documents.

The latest advisory follows an earlier communication issued by the CBC on August 5 regarding the empanelment of private C&S TV channels.

The affected channels have been instructed to upload the deficient documents through their respective login areas on the CBC’s ERP portal by October 21.

The deadline gives broadcasters a final window to complete the documentation required for consideration under the fresh empanelment process. The CBC has made it clear that channels failing to submit the required documents within the stipulated period will face de-empanelment.

The advisory puts the onus on the concerned broadcasters to review their submissions and address any deficiencies before the deadline. For channels seeking continued eligibility under the CBC’s empanelment framework, the next few weeks are therefore all about getting the paperwork in order.

With 90 private C&S channels still awaiting completion of their empanelment, the October 21 deadline is set to be a key compliance date for the broadcasters concerned.
