MUMBAI: Things are about to get seriously VIBE-y. Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer of VIBE, a high-stakes action comedy written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, with the film set to hit cinemas on September 18, 2026.

Produced by Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under the banner of Drongo Films, the film follows two inseparable friends whose ordinary lives take an extraordinary turn when they are pulled into a dangerous mission, putting both their survival instincts and friendship to the test.

The trailer introduces Hardik, played by Kemmu, and Bugs, played by Sparsh Shrivastava, as two unlikely heroes who find themselves caught in the middle of a looming national threat. The problem? Neither appears remotely prepared for the job.

Their unlikely transformation is set in motion by Madam H, played by Preity G Zinta, who takes on an action-comedy avatar unlike her previous screen roles. Her character is determined to protect the country and is willing to take matters into her own hands to get the job done.

The trailer mixes high-octane action with irreverent humour, rapid-fire banter, peppy music and a series of unexpected turns. At its centre is the comic contrast between ordinary people and extraordinary chaos, with Hardik and Bugs repeatedly finding themselves in situations well beyond their depth.

The ensemble also includes Vanshika Dhir, with Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav in pivotal roles.

For Kemmu, VIBE brings several responsibilities together, with the actor serving as writer, director, producer and lead actor. He said the film was conceived as a theatrical entertainer combining comedy, action, romance and music, with much of the humour coming from watching ordinary characters deal with situations they cannot control.

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, said the film’s central appeal lies in the contrast between a situation that demands heroes and two protagonists who are “the least likely options”.

The film also marks the first production from Drongo Films, co-founded by Nihalani. He said the team wanted its debut to be ambitious and distinctive while prioritising entertainment, with Amazon MGM Studios partnering on the project.

Zinta said her character’s determination to protect her country allowed her to explore a side of herself that audiences have not seen before. She described the production as an unpredictable experience, fittingly mirroring the film’s chaotic premise.

With chases, danger, friendship, bad decisions and plenty of comic misadventures packed into its trailer, VIBE is gearing up to bring its particular brand of chaos to the big screen on September 18, 2026.
