Kunal Kemmu’s ‘VIBE’ trailer promises action, chaos and plenty of laughs
Amazon MGM Studios’ action-comedy hits cinemas on September 18 with Preity G Zinta
Mumbai: The vibe is chaotic, the stakes are high and the heroes are decidedly unprepared. Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer of ‘VIBE’, an action-comedy written and directed by Kunal Kemmu, with the film set to release in cinemas on September 18.
Produced by Kemmu and Chirag Nihalani under the Drongo Films banner, the film follows two inseparable friends whose ordinary lives are turned upside down when they are unexpectedly pulled into a dangerous mission.
The trailer introduces Hardik, played by Kemmu, and Bugs, played by Sparsh Shrivastava. The unlikely duo are suddenly forced to play heroes when the country faces a looming threat.
The problem? They appear spectacularly unqualified for the job.
Their mission comes from Madam H, played by Preity G Zinta in an action-comedy role that offers a different side of the actor. Her character is determined to protect the country and will apparently use whatever means necessary to get the job done.
The trailer mixes fast-paced action with irreverent humour, punchlines and banter between the two friends. High-energy chase sequences, peppy music and unexpected twists round out the film’s theatrical pitch.
“What excited us about VIBE was the delicious contradiction at the heart of the film. The situation demands heroes, but the two people caught in the middle are the least likely options,” said Amazon MGM Studios director and head of originals, Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, Nikhil Madhok.
He added that the film brings together humour, action and “magnetic energy”, while praising Kemmu’s handling of the genre.
For Chirag Nihalani, ‘VIBE’ is particularly significant as the first production from Drongo Films.
He said the team wanted its debut to be ambitious, distinctive and entertaining, while creating a film that would leave a lasting impression on audiences. The production, he added, was built around a clear vision for the film’s world and tone.
Kemmu, who has taken on the roles of writer, director, actor and producer, describes ‘VIBE’ as a no-holds-barred entertainer designed for audiences to enjoy with family and friends or on their own.
The film combines comedy, action, romance and music, with Kemmu saying much of its humour comes from watching ordinary people caught in situations far beyond their control.
The cast also includes Vanshika Dhir, Yashpal Sharma and Dinesh Lal Yadav in pivotal roles.
Zinta said she was drawn to Madam H’s determination and patriotism, while the role also allowed her to explore a side of her performance that audiences have not seen before.
With friendship, danger, chases, confusion and a healthy supply of questionable decisions, ‘VIBE’ is positioning itself as a big-screen entertainer that does not take itself too seriously.
The film releases in theatres on September 18, 2026.
