Zee5 appoints Krishnendu Chakraborty as business head for APAC

MUMBAI: Zee 5 is going on the front foot in Asia Pacific, and it has brought in a heavyweight to lead the charge. Zee Entertainment Enterprises has appointed Krishnendu Chakraborty as business head, APAC, for Zee 5, handing him the job of accelerating the streaming platform’s growth across one of its most promising markets.

Chakraborty will report to Siju Prabhakaran, chief business officer, Zee 5 Global, and takes on a wide brief: expanding market presence, driving subscriber and revenue growth, forging strategic partnerships and deepening consumer engagement across the region.

He arrives with more than 21 years of leadership experience spanning traditional and digital media, D2C businesses, sport and consumer technology. Most recently, he was at Meta, where he led creator partnerships for APAC and sports partnerships for India, a background that lines up neatly with Zee 5’s ambitions to build deeper engagement and stronger brand partnerships in the region.

What it is now building is sharper regional firepower, and Chakraborty’s appointment signals a business betting hard on Asia Pacific as the next big growth engine for its streaming ambitions.
