SAN FRANCISCO: Vikram Suresh, CFA, has joined OpenAI as head of treasury markets, marking the next chapter in a finance career spanning capital markets, cash management, investments and strategic financing across geographies.

Suresh announced his move after a tenure at Adobe, where he served as director of capital markets and investments from August 2023 to October 2026. Reflecting on the transition, he expressed gratitude for the people he worked with at Adobe and enthusiasm about joining OpenAI’s treasury team.

At Adobe, Suresh drove capital structure strategy, shareholder returns and financial flexibility. He led a team of four treasury professionals and worked with senior leadership and the board of directors on a cash-debt neutral structure. His responsibilities also included establishing a $3 billion commercial paper programme and overseeing two record bond-financing transactions.

He also led asset-liability management initiatives, including fixed-to-floating interest rate swaps to manage profit and loss volatility. His work extended to redesigning Adobe’s investment portfolio, developing an internally managed short-term portfolio, improving cash forecasting and strengthening engagement with investor relations, rating agencies, auditors and the board.

Before Adobe, Suresh spent nearly 11 years at Intel Corporation, progressing through several treasury and finance roles. As treasury director for capital markets and investments from May 2021 to August 2023, he managed large debt-raising initiatives in US credit markets, including Intel’s multi-billion-dollar semiconductor co-investment programme. He also supported global financing projects, mergers and acquisitions, working capital initiatives and subsidiary initial public offerings.

During his time at Intel, Suresh led treasury support for Mobileye’s $1 billion IPO in 2022. His earlier responsibilities included managing Intel’s $20 billion-plus cash and fixed-income investment portfolio, overseeing its $10 billion commercial paper programme and supervising foreign-exchange hedging for currency exposures exceeding $15 billion.

His career at Intel began in Bangalore in November 2012 as a treasury analyst, with responsibilities covering liquidity, short-term investments and foreign-exchange requirements for offshore subsidiaries across Asia-Pacific and Europe. He subsequently held treasury manager, senior treasury manager and treasury director positions, alongside an earlier stint in Singapore as a marketing finance analyst.

Suresh began his career at Essar Power Limited in Mumbai, where he worked as an assistant manager from February to September 2012, focusing on working capital management, credit analysis, financial modelling and treasury activities.

With experience spanning investment management, debt financing, foreign-exchange risk and corporate finance, Suresh brings a broad treasury background to his new role at OpenAI.
