Compact SUV gets turbo petrol engine, new hybrid options and upgraded safety features
New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki is giving the Brezza a fresh boost, quite literally. Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched the new Brezza Turbo Boosterjet, introducing a turbocharged petrol engine to its bestselling compact SUV as it looks to attract younger buyers seeking stronger performance without compromising on efficiency.
The new Brezza Turbo Boosterjet is priced from Rs 7.39 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom) and joins an expanded line-up that now includes three powertrain options: a 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine, the updated K15C petrol engine with Progressive Smart Hybrid technology, and an S-CNG variant.
The company said the new model has been designed around the idea of “Spontaneous Play”, targeting customers who expect their SUV to suit both everyday commuting and weekend adventures.
Commenting on the launch, Maruti Suzuki India senior executive officer, marketing and sales Partho Banerjee said, “The New Brezza is an SUV that truly resonates with the aspirations of young India. With the New Brezza Turbo Boosterjet we add a new dimension of driving excitement that matches the energy and vibe of young India.”
He added that the SUV has been designed to suit different lifestyles and occasions while building on the brand’s popularity among Indian buyers.
Under the bonnet, the new 997 cc Turbo Boosterjet engine develops 81 kW (110.2 PS) of power and 170 Nm of torque, paired with a new six-speed manual gearbox. Maruti Suzuki claims a certified fuel efficiency of 20.47 km/l.
The K15C petrol variant also receives a new six-speed manual transmission alongside the existing six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The engine produces 75.8 kW (103.05 PS) and 139 Nm of torque while delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 21.09 km/l.
Meanwhile, the S-CNG version introduces an underbody CNG tank that preserves boot space and adds idle start-stop technology. The company claims a fuel efficiency of 26.9 km/kg.
Visually, the refreshed Brezza gets a redesigned smoke chrome grille, metallic grey skid plate, refreshed dual-tone side cladding, newly styled precision-cut alloy wheels and exclusive “Turbo Boosterjet” badging on the turbo variant. Two new exterior colours, Vivacious Orange and Lustrous Beige, have also been added to the palette.
Inside, the SUV features a new dual-tone cabin finished in dark brown and black, leatherette upholstery, a 10.1-inch SmartPlay Pro X touchscreen infotainment system with built-in internet connectivity, over-the-air updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, built-in Alexa support, premium speakers with Arkamys tuning and a 64-colour ambient lighting system.
Convenience features include ventilated front seats, a wireless smartphone charger with active cooling, a PM2.5 air filter with air quality display and automatic purification.
Safety has also been upgraded. Built to target a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating for the petrol variant, the new Brezza adds blind spot warning with lane change alert, rear cross traffic alert, tyre pressure monitoring system, emergency stop signal, exit support warning, an enhanced 360-degree camera with additional viewing modes, and front and rear parking sensors.
To help buyers personalise the SUV, Maruti Suzuki is offering three accessory packs. The Turbo Package adds sporty styling elements, while the Terrascape Package focuses on rugged design cues and the Metroscape Package is aimed at urban buyers seeking a distinctive look.
With over 1.4 million Brezza customers already on the road, Maruti Suzuki is broadening the compact SUV’s appeal by combining stronger performance, improved efficiency and a richer feature list, as competition in India’s SUV market continues to intensify.
