MUMBAI: Smartphone troubles are getting a support group of their own although this one comes with a punchline. LAVA has partnered with SW Network to launch its AGNI 4N smartphone in the UK through a creator-led campaign that turns everyday mobile frustrations into an exaggerated group therapy session.

Titled around a fictional ‘SAM Survivors Support Group’, the campaign brings together a group of young people sharing increasingly dramatic experiences of dealing with a smartphone that has tested their patience. The joke eventually gives way to the AGNI 4N, positioned as the alternative to those familiar frustrations.

The campaign features UK creators Deji Olatunji, Harry Pinero, Max Khadar, Joe Weller and Cariad Ryan, with SW Network developing the creative and Banana in a Suit (BIAS Studios) handling production. The film was shot in London with a UK cast, giving the campaign a distinctly British setting while using a situation familiar to smartphone users everywhere.

For LAVA, the campaign marks its entry into the UK market and takes a deliberately entertainment-first route rather than relying on a conventional product demonstration. The brand says the AGNI 4N is aimed at delivering a more uncompromised experience in the mid-tier smartphone segment, with the campaign using humour to introduce that proposition.

“The brief was to introduce AGNI 4N to a new audience in the UK and communicate its strengths in a way that didn’t feel like a conventional smartphone campaign,” said Raghav Bagai, co-founder, SW Network. He said the creative came from turning everyday frustrations consumers have learned to tolerate into an entertainment-led idea.

Puravansh Maitreya, head marketing, LAVA International, said the company wanted its UK entry to feel transparent and relatable, adding that the campaign was intended to reflect a consumer-first brand persona while highlighting the AGNI 4N’s positioning in the mid-tier segment.

The creator mix is also central to the campaign’s UK flavour. Shubham Chawla, business head, Youthbeat, said the campaign sought to bring together some of the UK’s distinctive creator voices, with their understanding of humour, character and storytelling helping build a world that feels recognisably British while remaining universal.

That approach extends into the production. Jaunty, producer and director at Banana in a Suit, said shooting in London with a UK cast helped make the support group feel authentic, while allowing the situations to gradually become more absurd. The creative challenge, he said, was to keep the characters believable enough for the audience to recognise them before introducing the AGNI 4N as the solution.

The campaign will roll out across the UK through influencer-led videos, out-of-home (OOH) placements and social media, putting creators at the centre of LAVA’s first push for the AGNI 4N in the market.
