NEW DELHI: Another agency move is making waves, with advertising executive Kunal Sharma joining BBDO Group India as vice president.

Sharma announced the move on LinkedIn, saying he was looking forward to working with the agency’s talent, taking on new challenges and learning from some of the industry’s leading minds.

The appointment adds an experienced client servicing and brand management professional to BBDO Group India’s leadership team. Sharma brings more than a decade of experience across advertising, communications and brand management, having held senior roles at agencies including Cheil India, MagicCircle Communications, ADK and Publicis India.

Prior to joining BBDO Group India, Sharma was general manager at Cheil India, a position he took up in March 2024. His stint at the agency ran alongside a career spanning client leadership, communication and brand management roles.

Before Cheil, Sharma spent nearly six years with MagicCircle Communications. He joined the agency as associate vice president in May 2018 and was elevated to vice president and servicing head in September 2021. He remained in the latter role until March 2024.

His time at MagicCircle gave him a broad exposure to servicing and brand management, building on earlier experience at ADK. Sharma served as associate vice president at ADK between October 2017 and April 2018.

Earlier in his career, he was client services director at Publicis India from July 2015 to September 2017, adding another major agency network to his professional journey.

The move to BBDO marks the latest step in a career that has largely centred on managing client relationships, brands and communication mandates. His experience across both network agencies and independent communications businesses gives him a varied perspective on the increasingly interconnected advertising and brand landscape.

Sharma holds a PGDBA in marketing from Sardar Patel University, which he completed in 2007. He also holds a BJMC degree from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, completed in 2006.

For BBDO Group India, the appointment comes as agencies continue to strengthen senior teams with professionals who can combine creative thinking with strong client and brand stewardship. For Sharma, it is a fresh chapter, and one that puts another experienced agency operator in the BBDO fold.

With his career having covered several major names in India’s advertising and communications industry, Sharma’s next brief at BBDO will be one to watch.
