MUMBAI: Prabhjeet Singh is adding another boardroom to his busy India tech journey. JSW One Platforms has appointed the Managing Director of OpenAI India as an Independent Director on its Board of Directors, bringing his experience in technology, digital platforms and business scaling to the B2B platform.

Singh joins JSW One Platforms as the company expands its operations across India and looks to strengthen its technology, distribution and financial services capabilities.

Before taking the India leadership role at OpenAI, Singh was associated with McKinsey & Company and Uber Systems India, where he eventually became President of Uber India and South Asia. His stint at Uber gave him experience in scaling a technology-led consumer platform and navigating a large and rapidly evolving Indian market.

Singh is now leading OpenAI’s India operations, overseeing consumer growth, enterprise adoption, partnerships, regulatory engagement and operations. He reports to Kiran Mani, OpenAI’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific.

His OpenAI mandate comes as the ChatGPT maker expands its footprint in India across consumer, enterprise and commercial operations. In his first public comments after joining, Singh said ChatGPT usage in India had doubled over the previous year.

His priorities include making AI more accessible and affordable, helping businesses use AI to solve problems, enabling Indian startups and developers to build with OpenAI technology, and expanding adoption across education and workplaces.

The role also comes as OpenAI broadens its India operation across advertising, enterprise, partnerships and infrastructure. The company has launched ChatGPT Ads in India and is expanding its enterprise business while building its local team across commercial and technical functions.

For JSW One Platforms, Singh’s appointment adds technology and platform-building experience to a business operating at the intersection of digital commerce and industrial supply chains. The company is seeking to strengthen its technology, distribution and financial services capabilities as it scales its B2B platform across India.

Singh holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and electrical communication engineering from IIT Kharagpur and a post-graduate diploma in management from IIM Ahmedabad. He has also received the Young Alumni Achiever award and the Kollengode V. Srinivas Award for the Best PGP Allrounder from IIM Ahmedabad.

With Singh now straddling two technology-led growth stories, one building AI adoption and the other scaling B2B commerce, the new board role brings a distinctly digital lens to JSW One Platforms’ next phase of expansion.
