Dharmendra Sinha joins Accenture as ceo of Accenture Edge
The 30-year technology veteran, who helped grow Cognizant from $25m to $16bn in annual revenue and most recently led Rackspace’s $1.5bn+ public cloud business, takes charge of the mid-market unit
Mid-market firms have the ambition. What they lack, says Dharmendra Sinha, are the right partners. He aims to be one. Sinha, known as DK, has joined Accenture as chief executive officer of Accenture Edge, the company’s mid-market business, bringing 30 years of experience leading growth, technology and transformation at scale. He started on October 5 and works remotely from the United States.
“It’s a moment I’m stepping into with a great deal of excitement and purpose,” he says. His message to the team is short and brisk: “Let’s drive growth!”
The appointment is easy to read. Sinha has spent his career helping organisations navigate significant periods of growth and reinvention. His focus, he says, has stayed consistent: driving growth, leading transformation and building the technology and talent capabilities organisations need for the future. As ceo of Accenture Edge, he leads the strategic vision, growth agenda and innovation priorities, helping clients accelerate transformation through technology, cloud and next-generation digital solutions. His stated aim is to build a high-performing business that delivers market-leading value, fosters innovation and creates long-term impact for clients, people and stakeholders. His areas of focus include artificial intelligence (AI) and the mid-market.
Start with the scale. Most recently, Sinha was president of the public cloud business unit at Rackspace Technology from July 2022 to September 2026, a stint of four years and three months. He led Rackspace’s $1.5bn+ public cloud business and was a member of its executive committee.
Before that came Cognizant, where he spent 24 years and one month. He helped grow the company from $25m to $16bn in annual revenue, while leading major business and technology transformations across the US and Europe. His roles there included ex. president, North America, from July 1997 to July 2021, and executive vice president and president, global client services, from July 2007 to May 2019, a stretch of 11 years and 11 months.
He also founded and served as president of the Cognizant US Foundation, a $100m nonprofit focused on STEM education, workforce reskilling and building future-ready digital talent. In 2020, he was honoured with the Ascend A-List Award for his contributions to the Pan-Asian community.
Sinha is generous about his predecessor. Accenture Edge, under the leadership of Srini Subramanian, “built something genuinely special”, he says. Subramanian started with a belief that mid-market clients deserved better and turned that belief into a business. That kind of conviction, Sinha notes, leaves a foundation for growth.
The timing, he argues, is right. Mid-market companies are at a remarkable inflection point. The opportunity to grow through AI and technology is real, and so is the complexity of capturing it. The combination of Accenture’s scale, ecosystem partnerships, talent and the focused model gives the unit something unique and powerful to work with. “I’ve spent my career helping clients cut through that complexity, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy to this team,” he says. He adds that he is energised by what lies ahead.
The pattern is plain: scale at Cognizant, cloud at Rackspace, and now a focused mid-market franchise with Accenture’s muscle behind it. For mid-sized firms hunting a partner in the AI scramble, the pitch just got sharper.
