Communications veteran Bhaskar Majumdar passes away

MUMBAI : Communications industry veteran Bhaskar Majumdar passed away on Thursday morning following a prolonged illness, according to media reports. He had over two decades of experience in corporate communications and reputation management.

Majumdar held senior communications roles at Reliance Industries, where he was general manager, corporate communications, and at ESPN Star Sports, where he served as manager, corporate communications. He also worked with several communications agencies over the course of his career, including APCO Worldwide, Genesis PR, Vaishnavi Corporate Communications and Adfactors PR.

He was associated with management forums and served on industry award platforms and juries, with his work recognised at industry programmes. Majumdar was also known for mentoring communications professionals and delivered lectures at institutions including the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, India Today Institute, GGSIP University and the Delhi School of Communication.

He was the founder of CommsAdda, a community built on the idea of adda, people coming together to talk about PR and about life beyond it. Friends and colleagues have remembered him as generous with his time and ideas, always willing to help those newer to the industry, and someone whose company was simply enjoyed by those around him.

Tributes have poured in from across the industry, with colleagues noting that many in the profession learnt from him and that his warmth extended to every interaction, professional or otherwise.
