A fifteen year climb through India’s media planning trenches culminates in a top strategy job at the world’s biggest media network

MUMBAI: Arpit Singh has been elevated to vice president, strategy, at WPP Media, capping a rapid ascent that saw him made partner, strategy just eight months earlier in December 2025. The promotion, effective this August, rewards a career built almost entirely inside the media planning and buying trade, one that has taken Singh through nearly every major network in the business over the past decade and a half.

Singh’s path to the top reads like a tour of Indian media agency land. He cut his teeth as a media planner at Group M in 2011, moved through marketing consultancy and a stint at NDTV, then spent close to two years at Madison World working on planning for clients including Airtel, BJP and Snapdeal. From there he built serious strategy chops at iProspect, rising from associate director to senior director over four years while leading the strategy function for north India, before a short stretch at Mindshare working on data, digital and content for Pepsi.

The real momentum, though, came in the back half of his career. Singh spent over two years at m/SIX as senior business director, strategy, followed by two years at Starcom as senior director, strategy, where he led media strategy for new business pitches and existing accounts, arguably the toughest proving ground in any agency, since pitch wins and losses tend to make or break strategy reputations fast. That track record evidently caught WPP Media’s eye, and the network moved quickly, first bringing him in as partner, strategy in December 2025, then confirming him as vice president within nine months.

What stands out about Singh’s trajectory is its consistency. Rather than chasing lateral moves across categories, he has stayed doggedly within strategy and planning, deepening his expertise with each stop rather than diversifying away from it, a specialist’s route to the top in an industry that often rewards generalists instead. For WPP Media, elevating a strategist with this much granular, pitch tested experience into a leadership seat signals where the network’s priorities lie as competition for new business intensifies across India’s crowded media landscape.
