No major changes in ranks in Hindi news genre

Only ABP News and India TV swapped ranks in the rural market.

BENGALURU: There were no major upheavals in the ranking orders in Broadcast Audience Research Council of India’s (BARC) weekly lists of top 5 Hindi news channels in the Hindi speaking rural (R), Hindi speaking urban (U) and the combined Hindi speaking urban and rural markets – HSM (U+R) for week 19 of 2019 (Saturday, 4 May 2019 to Friday, 10 May 2019, week or period under review). The only small blip was in HSM (R), where ABP News dropped a rank to fourth place and India TV climbed up to third place. Overall, in HSM (U+R), Aaj Tak lost some ratings, while the other four channels in the top 5 list gained viewership. 

In BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi news channels in HSM (U+R) Aaj Tak was ranked first in week 19 of 2019 with 139.932 million weekly impressions as compared to 146.057 million weekly impressions in the previous week. India TV was ranked second in week 19 of 2019 with 128.093 million weekly impressions as compared to 113.144 million weekly impressions in week 18. At third rank was Republic Bharat with 112.555 million weekly impressions as compared to 109.891 million weekly impressions in the previous week. At fourth rank was News18 India with 107.862 million weekly impressions as compared to 107.052 million weekly impressions in week 18. At fifth rank was APB News with 100.609 million weekly impressions as compared to 98.960 million weekly impressions in week 18. 

In BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi news channels in HSM (R) also, Aaj Tak was ranked first in week 19 of 2019 with 63.608 million weekly impressions as compared to 66.229 million weekly impressions in week 18. At second rank was Republic Bharat with 53.673 million weekly impressions as compared to 51.492 million weekly impressions in the previous week. India TV was ranked third in week 19 of 2019 with 52.857 million weekly impressions as compared to fourth rank and 42.715 million weekly impressions in week 18. At fourth rank was APB News with 48.132 million weekly impressions as compared to third rank and 45.176 million weekly impressions in week 18. At fifth rank was News18 India with 43.560 million weekly impressions as compared to 41.087 million weekly impressions in week 18

In BARC’s weekly list of top 5 Hindi news channels in HSM (U) Aaj Tak was ranked first in week 19 of 2019 with 76.315 million weekly impressions as compared to 79.828 million weekly impressions in the previous week. India TV was ranked second in week 19 of 2019 with 76.046 million weekly impressions as compared to 70.429 million weekly impressions in week 18. At third rank was News18 India with 64.301 million weekly impressions as compared to 65.965 million weekly impressions in week 18. At fourth rank was Republic Bharat with 58.882 million weekly impressions as compared to 58.399 million weekly impressions in the previous week. At fifth rank was Zee News with 54.013 million weekly impressions as compared to 57.076 million weekly impressions in week 18.
