MUMBAI: Zee Tamil is starting off the new year with fresh and innovative content strategies across all its segments, with a number of surprises up its sleeve. The channel has planned Mahasangamam episodes across various shows, which has gained a lot of popularity and traction among audiences.

The year began with Triveni Sangamam – a unique amalgamation of three shows in the afternoon segment, which was a first of its kind in the south television space. The coming together of Rettai Roja, Endrendrum Punnagai and Rajamagal, for a period of two weeks, received a great response from ardent television viewers in Tamil Nadu. This has resulted in a 3.3 TVR ( TN Urban 15+) for Wk52 as per BARC and has boosted the channel to the No.2 position (13:30-15:00 Mon – Sat) in the afternoon time band.

Currently, the channel is airing Mahasangamam episodes of Oru Oorula Oru Rajakumari and Sathya – two of Zee Tamil’s popular primetime shows. These episodes began airing on 9 January 2021, and will continue till 22 January 2021, daily from 9:30-10:30 pm.

The concept of Mahasangamams executed seamlessly for a long duration with the confluence of multiple story plots have been attempted in the Tamil entertainment space before, and Zee Tamil is quickly veering towards actively contributing to this evolving genre. Moreover, viewers have shown an avid interest for such formats, as it has the potential to offer a potpourri of genres, be it romance, comedy, thriller, suspense, or drama.

The channel is gearing up to air Mahasangamams of many of its popular shows until the month of March 2021:

Mahasangamam episodes of Neethaane Enthan Ponvasantham and Suyavamsam will be on television screens starting 25 January to 7 February 2021 between 7.00 – 8.00 pm daily.

An amalgamation of two different tales, on the one hand, Neethane Enthan Ponvasantham revolves around the romantic entanglement of the 40-year-old business tycoon Surya Prakash and the 19-year-old middle class ambitious girl Anu. On the other hand, Suryavamsam is a family drama which takes a refreshing look at the strong family bond of the Suryavamsam family headed by Annammal, who had disowned her own daughter Kalyani for marrying against her consent. How Kalyani’s daughter Samantha unites the two families forms the crux of the plot.

This will be closely followed by the Mahasangamam of Gokulathil Seethai and Yaaradi Nee Mohini from 6-19 February 2021 between 8-9 pm daily. (Dates are tentative)

The previous Mahasangamam of these two stories catapulted Zee Tamil into the slot leader position in primetime between 8 to 9 pm. The second coming together of these two families would be no different and would entertain the viewer to the fullest.
