The first ever think-fest of TV9 Network , “What Bengal Thinks Today”, was inaugurated by West Bengal Governor, Honorable Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar. TV9Bangla,the newly-launched regional channel of TV9 Network organized the day-long think-fest at ITC Sonar Bangla Hotel. In view of the upcoming assembly election in West Bengal, the prime topic of theconclave was “BangaJuddhoGadirLorai”. Union DefenceMinister Shri Rajnath Singh attended the event virtually during the penultimate session of the day.TV9 Network’s Group CEO Barun Das was also present during the inauguration.

In his welcome address, Mr. Das said: “TV9 Bangla has entered West Bengal at a time when India’s most awaited and keenly watched election is round the corner. So it is the most appropriate time to know What Bengal Thinks Today. We want this to be a dynamic platform where leaders cutting across the political spectrum will discuss all issues pertaining to the upcoming elections and beyond. It’s our sincerest wish that agenda of development good governance becomes the centre-piece of this election and the state’s politics going forward. TV9 Networkinitiated this intellectual meet based on the famous quote of eminent congress leader Gopal Krishna Gokhale, "What Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow”.The prime focus of this conclave was upcoming election of West Bengal. Eminent leaders from all major political parties of the state attended this intellectual gathering. The event turned the spotlight on many issues specifically related to upcoming assembly election in Bengal like “Violence in Bengal Elections”, “Muslim Vote Factor”, “The Hindutva Agenda”, “Nandigram”, “Corruption &Outsider Issue”,among others. Top leaders of major political parties shared their insightswith conclave delegates.

Heavyweight politicians like Partha Chatterjee,Shahnawaz Hussain, Firhad Hakim, BratyaBasu, Tathagata Roy,Saumitra Khan, Dola Sen, Arpita Ghosh, Riju Ghosal, Shatarup Ghosh and others were present as panelists. Union Cabinet Minister Prakash Javadekar and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury attended the session virtually. Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Chandra Maurya and cabinet minister from Madhya Pradesh,Narottam Mishra, also participated. British Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata Mr. Nick Low was among the distinguished guests at the conclave.
