Prasar Bharati CEO Vempati assumes additional responsibility of RS TV

NEW DELHI: Prasar Bharati chief executive officer Shashi Shekhar Vempati has assumed the additional responsibility as the CEO of Rajya Sabha Television.

This follows the acceptance of the resignation of Gurdeep Singh Sappal. Vempati assumed charge on Saturday.

The order to this effect was issued by Rajya Sabha deputy secretary Amit Kumar.

Prasar Bharati chairman A Surya Prakash wished Vempati well for this added responsibility in a tweet in which he reproduced the order.

In a separate tweet, Vempati said he looked forward to “guidance and advice of the vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu garu.”

A senior technocrat, Vempati had been appointed the CEO of Prasar Bharati in June this year. The appointment in the pubcaster is for a period of five years.

Sappal was the CEO and editor-in-chief of Rajya Sabha TV and also the officer on special duty to the vice president of India, and worked as his aide and political advisor.
