Network18 suspends publication of Firstpost newspaper

MUMBAI: Network18 has decided to suspend the publication of the weekly newspaper -- Firstpost Newspaper that was launched on 26 January 2019.

Network18 said in a statement that Firstpost in Print was one such experiment to provide a weekend reading experience to a different audience than online. It also mentioned that the brand has believed in constantly experimenting and re-investing itself and it has provided the company with good learnings.

“While we were pleased with the ongoing evolution of the brand and the compelling journalism the team produced on a weekly basis, logistical problems made the project unsustainable in print. The quality of journalism offered by Firstpost will continue in digital and other platforms for our loyal consumers,” the statement said.

It further mentioned, “Over the years, Firstpost has come to stand for a certain class of journalism and Network18 is committed to its growth. We will continue to invest in the brand.”

The launch of the publication was was unveiled at the The India Business Leader Awards held at the Trident Hotel in Mumbai. Union ministers Piyush Goyal, Suresh Prabhu, Jayant Sinha were also present. The newspaper, a 20-page broadsheet, catered to readers in Mumbai and New Delhi. The paper was designed by Jacek Utko that is one of the most reputed designers in the world.
