MUMBAI: India News, organised an event called Yogi Sarkar, Kitni Asardaar? The day-long event, held in Lucknow on Saturday, March 17, 2018, presented a comprehensive overview of the BJP government’s first year in power in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was the chief guest at the elaborate event attended by several political leaders including Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, former CM Akhilesh Yadav, Sidharth Nath Singh, Health Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Swati Singh, State Minister of Women Welfare and Aparna Yadav, Samajwadi Party leader. In addition, the event was attended by bureaucrats, economists, leading journalists, corporates and esteemed members of the civil society.

In an exclusive conversation with Kartikeya Sharma, founder and promoter of iTV Network, and Deepak Chaurasia, Editor-in-Chief, India News, the Chief Minister emphasised on the importance of working towards salvaging the state from the effects of years of caste and dynastic politics and shifting the focus towards development in the state.

Upbeat about his government’s completion of a year in power, Yogi Adityanath reiterated his focus will remain fixed on development, women empowerment and agriculture. The Chief Minister talked about providing a reliable supply of electricity to farmers by encouraging private-sector participation to implement a robust system aimed at improving the condition of agriculture in the state.

The Chief Minister noted that corruption, goondaism and gross mismanagement were some of the main challenges that his government had to grapple with when it assumed power in the state a year ago. He then highlighted the efforts of his government to address some of these long-standing concerns in sync with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikaas’ (Collective Efforts Inclusive Growth) policy.

The event was marked by multiple panel discussions that captured the hits and misses of the past year, including the BJP’s recent defeat in the UP by-polls, and featured several ministers from the Yogi government and the opposition. The main areas that the conclave covered while evaluating the performance of the current government included: General effectiveness of the government with the focus on pointed macro- as well as micro-level questions, effectiveness of the government in enhancing women empowerment and Youth, effectiveness of the government in addressing minority concerns.

The event culminated with the presentation of the India News Uttar Pradesh – Shaurya Samman Awards, a commendation ceremony that recognized exceptional acts of bravery and commitment by the UP police.
