MUMBAI: Ever wondered how it only takes a combination of seven musical notes to produces countless and everlasting melodies? It is true what they say that music makes the world go round. It’s the beautiful harmony of strings and keys that truly evokes a palette of emotions within you. For those bitten by the music bug, this World Music Day, &PrivéHD, the premium destination for nuanced cinema, is set to present a special Music Day Binge this Friday, on June 21, starting 11AM.

Bringing a mix of classics and contemporary tales from the world of critically-acclaimed musicals; the Music Day Binge on &PrivéHD promises a symphony of movies ranging from rom-com to dramadies. The day-long binge includes some of the award-winning titles like Grease, Footloose (1984), Slumdog Millionaire and The School of Rock.

With an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song and nominations from both Golden Globe Awards and People’s Choice Awards; Grease is one romantic-comedy that truly touches your heart with the passionate on-screen romance and beautiful original tracks. Starring the icon himself John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, the love story of Danny and Sandy, set in the summer of 1950s, still feels fresh in today’s times.

Next in the line-up is Footloose (1948), a musical-drama, directed by the multi-faceted Herbert Ross, which revolves around the life of Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon), a teenager from Chicago. The film traces his journey of rebellion as he grapples with shock on realizing that rock music and dance is banned in his new neighborhood. Coupled with foot-tapping dance numbers, the film received two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song and a Grammy nomination for Best Album of Instrumental Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special.

Another masterpiece as part of the binge is the rags to riches story of Jamal Malik, who, from being penniless, rises to fame with one million in his pocket. Slumdog Millionaire broke all records when it hit the theatres. Having won eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, the makers scooped all awards across BAFTA and the Golden Globe with Dev Patel’s performance being highly appreciated across borders.

Lastly, bringing the true spirit of rock 'n' roll, School Of Rock, is a rib-tickling film centered around the struggling rock guitarist Dewey Finn who moonlights as a substitute teacher at an elementary school in an attempt to put together a rock band of fifth-graders. Having multiple awards and nominations from Golden Globes, British Comedy Awards and Grammy Awards among others, the film met with rave reviews for its electrifying soundtrack and a dash of humor.
