    NEW DELHI: Even as the total number of wireline and wireless subscribers all over the country has declined by a marginal 0.11 per cent to 897.02 million subscribers between March and April 2013, the Total Broadband subscriber base has shown an increase of 0.29 per cent.

    The current Broadband (? 256 Kbps download) subscriber base is up from 15.05 million at the end of March 2013 to 15.09 million at the end of April 2013.

    According to the Telecom Report of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for April 2013, the yearly growth in broadband subscribers is 8.21 per cent during the last one year (April 2012 to April 2013).

    There are 162 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) which are providing broadband services in the country as on 30 April this year.

    Out of these, 119 ISPs (having 99.26 per cent market share) have provided broadband subscription data for the month of April 2013. TRAI has retained the data of March for the others.

    The Top five ISPs in terms of market share (based on subscriber base) are: BSNL (9.94 million); Bharti Airtel (1.40 million); MTNL (1.09 million); Hathway (0.36 million); and You Broadband (0.31million).
