• TLC brings 'Nigella's Christmas Kitchen'

    MUMBAI: Lifestyle channel TLC has announced that this month, Nigella is back in her kitchen at a time when most people are gearing up for a bit of extended kitchen work to cope with the flurry of gatherings, the Christmas season brings.

    Christmas is, after all, the last bastion of traditional cooking; it is a time when people are more than prepared to spend whole days stirring, stuffing and marinating. In her new series Nigella Christmas Kitchen, the show?s host lays out her philosophy for not only coping with, but actively enjoying the festive season. The show will air from 12 December 2011 everyday at 7.30 pm.

    She goes back to her kitchen to produce a myriad of dishes which relish tradition, and yet play around it too, to celebrate Christmas. Nigella shows viewers new recipes to match the season, which often ends up being more stressful than joyous to many people.

    Lawson believes that Christmas is both a season to be treasured and a state of mind that has to be achieved by relishing long established routines and welcoming new ones too. Christmas is also the opportunity of re-discovering slow cooking, preserving and the unhurried joy that the season can be. Nigella shares her Christmas culinary short cuts and tips, plus recipes that can be prepared in advance, frozen and revived at Christmas time for stress-free suppers, topped off with the Domestic Goddess? tips for throwing the best Christmas party!

  • Laricheva is BBC Worldwide Channels VP for commercial development

    MUMBAI: BBC Worldwide Channels has announced the appointment of Nina Laricheva to the role of VP Commercial Development for its business in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

    Reporting to BBC Worldwide Channels senior VP, GM Europe, Middle East and Africa Ian McDonough, she will be responsible for driving revenue growth and the strategic development of the business?s thematic portfolio - BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, BBC Entertainment, CBeebies and BBC HD - as well as for BBC World News, the BBC?s commercially funded international 24-hour news and information channel.

    Her role will involve developing the sales and business strategy for the channels in key markets across EMEA, negotiating multiplatform distribution deals in conjunction with local teams and establishing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders within BBC Worldwide.

    She will take up her new role on 1 November. She fills the position vacated by McDonough on his elevation to GM in August 2010, and will also act as his deputy in her new role.

    With over 10 years of experience in the Pay TV industry, she has worked for a number of international broadcasters, most recently Universal Networks International. As Global Affiliate Sales Director, she was instrumental in growing distribution for the network, particularly in Benelux, Africa and the Nordic Region.

    Prior to that, she worked as a consultant for BBC Worldwide Channels, after having held the role of Commercial Director for Discovery Networks Europe.

    McDonough said, "Nina brings to the role great expertise and a real understanding of the positioning of BBC Worldwide?s Channels business, and its potential within the wider commercial television landscape. I?m delighted to have her on board as we look to build on the success of our channels in EMEA."

    MUMBAI: WWE has set up base in Istanbul as part of its strategy to expand in key emerging markets. Earlier in the year, it had opened an office in India.

    WWE has appointed Emre Mumcuoglu as WWE Turkey GM to lead WWE?s expansion across all lines of business within Turkey and Central Asia.

    Mumcuoglu will be based in WWE?s new Istanbul office and report into WWE International senior VP, MD Dominic Hayes.

    Mumcuoglu most recently served as Fox Turkey programme director where during his four year tenure with the company worked with major distributors including Sony, Disney and Warner Bros.

    Prior to Fox Turkey, he held positions at Discovery Networks and Kanalturk, where he was instrumental in the launch of the channel.

    Hayes said, ?WWE has enjoyed substantial growth in Turkey and Central Asia in recent years and we will continue to focus on giving our fans in Turkey increased access to WWE through our multiple platforms. The addition of Emre, a highly accomplished senior executive with a wealth of television experience, is representative of this focus and the next stage in our development strategy for the region.?
