Dance and music lovers have a treat in waiting this weekend. Tender Roots is an experience of stories through dance, drama and music especially designed for children. The audience will have the opportunity to witness well known and rare stories through folk and classical genres. The performers are mostly talented school children from across Mumbai and Aurangabad.

Catch them present beautiful renditions of Indian classical dance through folklore at 11 am on 3 October at Saint Andrew?s Auditorium, Saint Andrew's College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Mumbai.

Artist Reena Saini Kallat's latest solo offering Hyphenated Lives advances poetic and provocative inquiries into ideas of unison and estrangement, of confluence and conflict. A graduate of J.J. School of Arts, the artist is known for her diverse and imaginative use of materials incorporating drawing, photography, sculpture and video, based on conceptual processes.

Those who love art to tell their own story rather than look for captions should head to the unique exhibition this weekend by artists Veer Munshi and Amit Mehra.

'Insider / Outsider' is an interplay of two distinct perception of the land by Veer Munshi and Amit Mehra in photographs and video. They are unified by their insistence to avert from the conventional representations of the valley. Munshi, living in exile from Kashmir, chronicles the loss and decay that has descended in places once alive. On the other hand, Mehra, a frequent visitor to the valley, captures the tense activity and anxiety in the contemporary context. Catch the exhibition displayed at Sakshi Gallery in Colaba, South Mumbai till 17 October from 11 am to 7 pm.

Mumbai: To celebrate International Women?s Day this year, eight women, who are alumni of Sophia Polytechnic 1979 batch, will be coming together to celebrate the spirit of art and creativity with an exhibition of art called ?Timeless Energy ? An Art Connect.?

The art show commences on 27 February, 2015 at The Easel Gallery, Juhu and will showcase the work of these women in the form of free spirited expression. The creative energy that flows through their art is presented by bold strokes, colour blocks, textures and interesting treatments of varied mediums on surfaces from canvas to fabric, wood, glass and porcelain.

?This creative art connect took root at the onset of our glorious days in art college where we all met as teenagers, learning and experimenting our creative techniques and observations right through to adulthood, marriage, families, work and continues to this day by God?s grace,? explains the Timeless Energy team.

?Timeless Energy is constant, ever evolving and without limitations, a bond that is freeing as much as it brings together, a connect we share with each other and fellow artists,? the team further added.
