Rolling Stone presents short video app ‘Platfom’ in India

This app will initially be accessible by invitation only to 100 founding members.


Mumbai: Rolling Stone India, Creativeland Asia, and Jio Platforms Ltd. have come together to launch the go-to short-video app for entertainers called Platfom. With an ecosystem designed for organic growth and consistent monetisation, it is poised to be the ultimate destination for star entertainers.

It is the social hub for singers, musicians, actors, comedians, dancers, fashion designers, and all other cultural creators.

Jio Platforms Ltd.'s tech infrastructure powers the platform, which is also the driving force behind India's leading telecom operator, Jio, and platforms across Jio's media, entertainment, and digital apps.

The app's first 100 founding members are only accessible by invitation and are distinguished by the golden tick verification on their profiles.

These members will be the first to witness the features added to the ecosystem and to invite new artist members to sign up through referral programs. Soon, the app will be open to creators from all industries.

Platfom does not prioritise paid algorithms that define growth, instead allowing creators to rise through the ranks and reputation organically, resulting in the monetisation of their talent and a consistent stream of revenue for the creators. This will be accomplished through silver, blue, and red tick verifications, which are based on fanbase growth and content engagement rather than paid promotions.

The 'Book Now' button on all creator profiles enables users, fans, and brands to interact with artists and quickly book them for various gigs, partnerships, white-label content production, and more. Creators will also be featured in Rolling Stone India's digital editorials, receive premium verification, and be able to monetize their skills through in-app bookings.

The 'Cover of the Week' for Rolling Stone India will soon be a reality for all artists. Platfom aims to empower the realm of creators and is the only app that bridges the gap between them and limitless opportunities. The beta version of the app has begun onboarding talent and will go fully live in January 2023.
