Hillary Clinton, Helen Mirren to present awards to Winfrey, ITV at iEmmys

CANNES: Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton and actress Helen Mirren will be in attendance at the 33rd International Emmy Awards Gala, to be held on 21 November, 2005.

Clinton and Mirren will be presenting two special awards. While Clinton will present international media pioneer and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey with the 2005 International Emmy Founders Award, Mirren will present British commercial broadcaster ITV plc with the International Emmy Directorate Award.

The Founders Award is presented by the International Academy to celebrate the achievements of an individual or a company whose work is recognised throughout the world.

The Directorate Award, on the other hand, is an award, which is given to organisations or individuals in management, administration, news, engineering, programming, and/or international relations for their outstanding contributions, over a period of time, to the arts and sciences of international television. ITV plc CEO Charles Allen will accept the award.

While making the announcement, Academy of Television Arts & Sciences President and CEO Bruce Paisner said, "Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton are each remarkable people in their chosen field so the International Academy is delighted that Miss Winfrey is receiving our Founders Award and Senator Clinton is presenting it to her. The Academy is equally pleased that Helen Mirren, one of Britain's most versatile and acclaimed actresses is presenting the Directorate Award to ITV."
