MUMBAI: This is an important step in the goal towards leveraging the online medium as a means of showcasing sporting events. Today 21 June arguably the most prestigious of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments Wimbledon kicks off.

SifyMax which is positioning itself as Indias first broadband portal has teamed up with the All England Lawn Tennis Club and IMG/TWI to provide Wimbledon 2005 tennis action on video to broadband users in India for the first time.

On television the event will air on Star Sports. As far as Sify is concerned the video clips service is being produced by TWIs interactive division for SifyMax.in and will include live content on multi-court audio commentary as well as a daily round-up. The broadband service will also have player interviews, individual match highlights. Archived content will include the 2004 Championships Round-up, golden moments and Behind the Scenes programming.

Sify president and COO George Zacharias said, We are delighted to be associated with an event of this magnitude and historical significance, and to be working with TWI and the AELTC to bring the excitement of Wimbledon to SifyMax users. We will continue to ensure that the best video content of exciting events such as

Wimbledon, as well as music, movies, news and entertainment is on SifyMax. So that broadband users can make it their home page on the web to get the best out of their broadband connectivity.

IMG/TWI MD South Asia and IMG senior VP Ravi Krishnan said, TWI is excited to partner with SifyMax.in as the exclusive broadband content partner for Wimbledon 2005. This is in

line with our commitment to extend brand Wimbledon beyond its existing format without losing the focus of aggregating relevant newer audiences. SifyMax will help us to take Wimbledon 2005 to the fast growing base of broadband Internet users, from home and cyber cafes, in India and to capture new audiences outside the realm of traditional TV viewing.

www.SifyMax.in is Indias first broadband content portal with an enormous range of music, news and video entertainment content.
