MUMBAI: Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will turn 10 years old on 14 April 2004 in the US.

TCM celebrated with a new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for its founder Ted Turner on 7 April. Tomorrow, on 13 April, it will ring the bell of the New York Stock Exchange. The network also expects to hit the 70 million subscriber mark by the end of this year.

In the US, the network will air festivals of films coinciding with the political conventions, including the favourite movies of Senators John McCain, Orrin Hatch, Joe Biden and Tom Daschle. Off air, the network is creating a new book In the Picture: Production Stills from the TCM Archives, in conjunction with Chronicle Books. It will feature over 150 production stills from classic films.

A company release adds that the on-air look and creative strategy for TCM has earned the respect and recognition of the creative community. Last year it won 45 Promax and BDA Awards. The network claims distribution in more than 40 countries. The network is in nearly 30 million households in Europe, reaching 84 per cent of households in Ireland and 82 per cent in the UK
