PCB invites bids for T20 league media rights

MUMBAI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited bids for the media rights of its franchise-based T20 league Pakistan Super League T20 for a five year period from 2013-17, according to media reports.

The PCB has put out ads in leading newspapers inviting interested parties to submit technical and financial proposals separately by 10 February for television broadcasting rights, internet video streaming rights and mobile telephony rights for the tournament, reports newswire PTI.

The T20 league expected to feature five franchises will kick-off on 26 March. Each team will be allowed to sign on 10 local players, two emerging players and six overseas players. The PCB has earmarked $100 million for the league for a five year period.

The players in the top category will have a base price of $100,000 in the players? auction.

Pakistan Super League T20 MD Sarwar Salman Butt was hopeful of signing iconic international players for the league. "We are very hopeful we will be able to sign on some well known players despite reservations from some quarters."

Butt said the franchises would have a reserve price of $2 million and was hopeful of completing the process of selling the franchises soon.
