I&B Ministry hopeful of meeting budgetary targets during 2010-11

NEW DELHI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry in the first six months of 2010-11 spent 50 per cent of the total budget estimates for the year as against 49 per cent in 2009-10.


The Ministry had been allocated a net budget of Rs 17.54 billion after recovery of Rs 700,000 out of the gross Rs 17.54 billion for 2010-11, of which it spent Rs 8.75 billion in the first half of the year.


In comparison, the Ministry had been allocated a net budget of Rs 17.68 billion in 2009-10 after recovery of Rs 700,000 out of the gross Rs 17.68 billion, of which it spent Rs 8.67 billion.


Information and Broadcasting Ministry sources told indiantelevision.com that senior officials of the Ministry were satisfied with the performance of the Ministry so far, and expressed the hope that the second half would be used for consolidating many of the new initiatives taken in the first half.
