BBC World's Bollywood Bosses profiles actor turned director Ashutosh Gowariker, featuring interviews with music composer AR Rahman, Oscar winning costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, art director Nitin Desai, actor Shah Rukh Khan, and Ashutosh's close friends, actors Paresh Rawal and Deepak Tijori.

Ashutosh Gowariker made his debut as an actor with the lead role in the 1984 film Holi. He then went on to direct one of Bollywood's most defining films, Lagaan, in 2001. The film put the director in the league of Bollywood's biggest filmmakers.

Bollywood Bosses looks at his journey as an actor before he took up direction and his run up to Lagaan. The episode also revisits the location of Wai where Ashutosh shot the film, Swades.

Every week, Bollywood Bosses profiles some of Bollywood's top directors, examining the methods of filmmaking adopted by these well-known directors and presents a behind-the-scenes view into the glitz and glamour of Bollywood. The programme is sponsored by Hyundai Colour Televisions and HP.

Air dates: Saturday 26 February at 10 pm and Sunday 27 February at 12 noon.
