Ashutosh Gowariker made his debut as an actor with the lead role
in the 1984 film Holi. He then went on to direct one of Bollywood's
most defining films, Lagaan, in 2001. The film put the director
in the league of Bollywood's biggest filmmakers.
Bollywood Bosses looks at his journey as an actor before
he took up direction and his run up to Lagaan. The episode
also revisits the location of Wai where Ashutosh shot the film,
Swades.
Every week, Bollywood Bosses profiles some of Bollywood's
top directors, examining the methods of filmmaking adopted by these
well-known directors and presents a behind-the-scenes view into
the glitz and glamour of Bollywood. The programme is sponsored by
