For the first time on Asian television, HBO will be premiering a brand new emmy award-winning HBO original series Carnivale for the first time on Asian TV on 7 October at 9 pm.

With words such as chilling, vivid, surprising, entrancing and captivating used to describe the series, the prime time slot on Monday will be achilling one. Winner of five out of the seven Emmys nominated for at the recent 56th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, HBO’s original series Carnivale is set in the 30’s Dust Bowl, during a time deemed as the last great age of magic. In a time of titanic sandstorms, drought and pestilence - all signs of God's fury and harbingers of the Apocalypse - the final conflict between good and evil is about to begin, says a company release.

Following a traveling carnival full of colorful characters, such as a midget carnival boss (Michael J. Anderson), a lizard man (played by John Fleck, Star Trek), a blind mentalist (played by Patrick Bauchau) and a tarot card reader (Clea Duvall from The Laramie Project), who has conversations with her catatonic mother, this battle will take place in the Heartland of an empire called America. And when it is over, man will forever trade away wonder for reason.
Life is pretty much the same until the carnival picks up a quiet 18-year-old youth, Ben Hawkins (played by Terminator 3’s Nick Stahl) who conceals his gift of healing powers and is often haunted by strange and traumatic dreams. From then on, strange occurrences begin to happen and concurrently, we meet Brother Justin (played by Clancy Brown, The Shawshank Redemption), a devout preacher who, believing God is speaking to him - but whether that is God or another force, remains a mystery.

An epic tale of good versus evil, Carnivale is a mystery drama that comes with a per episode price tag of approximately US$3 million, and features luscious landscapes, layered characters and a truly engrossing plot. A fascinating show that critics have deemed a work of art, Carnivale takes its time to reveal its cast of unwitting pawns of supernatural destiny and the secrets behind the unsettling storylines, adds the release.
