This week on CNNs Talk Asia, Indian business tycoon
Ratan Tata will talk about his business and how it has interwoven
with the Indian way of life. Worth some $ 23 billion with over 220,000
employees, the Tata Group has come a long way since its inception
in 1868. Tata shares his vision on expanding the Tata group to international
markets outside of India. The episode will air on 16 October at
8.30 am and 11 pm with a repeat telecast on 17 October at 4 pm and
8:30 pm.
"Ive
always believed that we should not view India as a boundary but
we should be an Indian company operating in other countries, maybe
with the face of that country," Tata said.
The 66-year-old also gives viewers an insight into his personal
experiences, from when he left India at age 15 to study in the US,
obtained an architectural degree and returned to work for one of
the largest industrial groups in India.
In the half hour interview, Tata discusses the pressures of carrying
on the Tata legacy and reveals some memorable moments and lessons
learned from his predecessors. By chanting the Tata group mantra,
he describes what he hopes to achieve before passing on the baton
three years from now.
"I would like to be remembered for someone who succeeded in
an environment of change, to uphold the value systems and ethical
standards that our group was built on and wherever I am what would
hurt me the most is if we threw that away," he added.
