| The search for India's smartest child has moved to
the west. The first zonal prelims for the title of Britannia India's
Child Genius has seen 16 out of 80 kids from the west zone quizzed
by the quizmaster Siddhartha Basu. In the next episode-the West zonal
finals, to be aired on 30 May at 9 PM on Star World, will see three
out of the 16 semifinalist emerge as winners.
The
16 kids from the West Zone, who made it to the zonal prelims through
rigorous rounds of written and telephonic test, will go through
a tough round of question and answer sessions to qualify.
4,000 out of the total 16,000 applications from across the country
were received from the west zone and so this zone was considered
the crucial one, offers a company release.
Applications were received far and wide from Rajasthan, Gujarat,
Madhya Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Maharashtra
and Goa. Over 300 students turned out for the written test in Jaipur.
The
West Zone also included participants from cities like Ajmer, Baroda,
Bharuch, Bhilwara, Bhopal, Bharatpur, Deesa Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur,
Kota, Mehsana, Nagpur, Nashik, Raigad, Rajkot, Ratlam, Sangil, Sidhi,
Surat, Udaipur, and Vadodara, apart from Mumbai, Pune, Ahmadabad,
Jaipur.
The West Zone has participants from the highest number of cities
and schools and also has the highest number of female contestants,
adds the release.
