CNN journalist Dr. Sanjay Gupta reports on the Aids pandemic live from the 15th International Aids Conference in Bangkok, Thailand. Reports will keep coming in throughout this week.

With the UN recently reporting that nearly five million people became infected with the Aids virus last year, the struggle to contain this deadly disease is becoming increasingly difficult. Dr. Gupta will highlight the latest news from the conference. Video correspondent Aneesh Raman will also report live from Bangkok.

Meanwhile on 17 July at 1 pm, 6 pm and on 18 July at 10 am and 5 pm the channel will air the special Aids: Hope and Heartbreak. Hosted by Dr. Gupta the special will wrap up the latest news from the conference. The special will also profile the potentially successful new one pill treatment and also looks at the success rate of prevention programmes in Thailand and Africa.

With women and young people having the highest infection HIV rates around the globe, CNN looks at why these groups are not receiving adequate education to protect themselves from this disease.
